I recently bought couple of old saws a few planes with broken handles and totes. I have some scraps of Cocobolo I bought to make inlay but never got around to it. I turned a couple of shaving brushes years ago, and discovered real quick it dulls turning tools in a hurry. I laid it out and I think I have enough wood to make handles for both saws and three planes.
Is Cocobolo as tough on hand tools as it is on hhs lathe tools? I don’t mind additional sharpenings for planes, chisels, or handsaws, but I really do not want to ruin my rasps. Anyone had any experience with rasps and Cocobolo?

Hey,
Though it's not the hardest wood out there it's equally tough on all edges. Be prepared to sharpen...a lot...if you're going to work with cocobolo.

there are some woods that simply require carbide-tipped tools, and Cocobolo is one of them. If you're using anything short of carbide, get out the sharpening supplies!
