OK Knot heads, Lets get on the band wagon and bombard PBS, DIY and H&G Channels with tons of requests for more WW shows like Roy Underhill, David Marks, The Router Guys etc. etc. I’am pretty tired of tired of knitting, quilting and scrapbooking.
The online WW channel is cool but practically useless with dial up.

I too have received answers from Roy via E-mail. He went all out with an answer, very nice guy.
Your Post is what prompted me to start the new Post about the WW shows on TV. Thanks for noticing me. "Eeyore"Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Bruce,
I sent email to our local PBS station, as will my uncle and about 30 other local active woodworkers.
We all communicate and help each other out all the time. I and another are beginning the initial stages of forming a woodworkers guild up here in northern New Hampshire. Hoping it will work out well.
You see, great minds think alike! Your post prompted me to contact our folks and the ball is rolling up here!

OK - I understand everything except the router guys. Why not just go to your shop, turn a router on for a half hour continuous and just listen to the whine? (LOL)
Steve
Um, not a fan of routers? Or just not a fan of this show?
Doug Meyer
(PS I have to say it is not my fav. but any wood working show is better then a show on finger painting)
I do like routers but am not a fan of the show. I used to watch it and found watching the multiple cuts over and over with the whine of the router annoying. If you compare how this show is done with the relatively few other woodworking shows there is a stark difference in presentation. Most shows present the setup following watching one sample cut. With the router workshop, if they have a dozen identical cuts to make sure we get to see every cut. They would be better off spending time showing you how to make the jigs and show one cut.

I agree. Routers are fine.......the show, however, needs to be " kicked up a notch ". Maybe the secound half of the show could be devoted to baking. How to use your router as a mixer with the correct attachment. :)

You will notice that I didn't give any credit to Sherry Hiller and Matt Fox on the Room By Room Show. Now that show was the pits.
Then again I sure don't mind watching and "viewing" Freeform FurnitureWork Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

I guess it's the router guys personalities that bother me the most. They just seem to want to be poked fun at. It's nothing personal, I'm just having fun with it. The other shows you mentioned, never seen them. Freeform Furniture sounds interesting though.

Freeform Furniture.....nothing sexier than a hot girl using power tools...
Freeform furniture isn't a bad show, but not my style of work. But Amy Devers (Host) sure adds some "spice" to the show and she can really handle tools.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

If you really want to have fun with the Router Guys you have to watch like me and my wife. We hit the mute button and make up our own dialogue. A lot of fun and can get pretty wicked. They just seem to beg for it. Back to the original thread, what really stinks is how Diy started the car repair junk on weekend mornings. Out of respect for my nieghbors I'd usually wait till a decent time on the weekend to hit my shop especially when I needed to fire up the power tools. Does anyone want to be flying downhill at 60/70mph and have the driver turn to you and say "I watched that car show last week and learned how to change these brakes myself." I can so see that happening.
Sounds like a blast. Mystery Woodworking Theater 3000. Count me in.

New dialog for the router guys, That's a HOOT !!
I used to get a kick out of the Philly, Furniture Guys. Fun comedy. I'll bet Lataxe and Muffti could put on one great show!Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

I agree with you in a way about the Router Guys, But they do have some good ideas now and then. Still better than Scrapbooking !Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

I like the yellow smock things...um shop coats...yeah, thats what I like about the Router Guys.

It beats the bowling shirts they used to wear! The show originates out of Winnipeg and it's the best source of ugly projects around. I suspect most of their plans are lifted from old Popular Mechanics magazines or Deltagrams from the 50s.
I caught another show recently that I'd never seen before. Can't recall the title exactly but it was something like Demo It (as in Demolish) or Reno It. Anyway - what a refreshing show. It was a 2 person team doing remodel jobs and they didn't hesitate to show all the bad stuff along with the good. One of the 2 guys was English and I think the two were based around Minneapolis?? But I could be wrong on the location too. It was a nice change of pace from the other WW shows that would have you believe they don't make any mistakes.
If you build it he will come.
Reno is on Saturday mornings on HGTV.
Don't forget to check out the wood whisperer. (at, of all places, woodwhisperer.com). Mr. Spagnuolo definitely deserves his own show on PBS or HGTV.
