I have returned after a prolonged period of illness to find that the Knots Forum is dead.
Whole sections have a first post that is weeks old since the last message.
The level of enquiry and answer has dropped to the DIY level.
Very disappointing and depressing.
Well my knowledgeable friends who were here must have gone somewhere. I’m off to find them.
Goodbye

Try here ! Many or the regulars went there but it has gotten slow too.
So you are just going to run away too instead of sticking around and reviving the forum? Thank you for taking the easy way out.
Bye

Best of luck in finding professional help somewhere else.

Multi forums
There is nothing wrong with participating in many Forums. I participate in 5, and each one has it's good and bad points.
Variety is the spice of life, except when it comes to wives, that doesn't work.
amen brother
I have about the same, but this one was the best and the wealth of knowledge here was amazing. However, lack of listening and demanding square pegs fit in a round hole drove a lot away. I still come to try to give back but you get as many posts now in a month as you use to get in a day. Remember the 3k post hand plane one? The real characters are mostly gone.
Curious
Bruce,
Wishing someone best of luck does not seem to me as condemning participation/visits to other forums. Good material, depending on individual's needs, can be found in many places.
Best wishes,

hello and goodbye
i used to be here all the time, but i have also moved. woodsmith and wood seem to be the places with the most activity.
I agree it sucks ( and I hate that over used term but . . .
a perfect description in this case ). Sucks the life out of an old timer without giving back with a bit of conversation or sharing on the part of the new comers. Instead of Knots it should be renamed Answers On Demand.
You missed the snow blower questions. Oh and I am still twitching from the forray into crinkle fastener joinery.
Ha Ha Ha . . . sob sob blubber sob.
There is still some real, fine, woodworking going on here :

The people that were here are there.
There are so many things I like about coming to FWW online in general. Shame about this forum though.
Such a distant memory of the times when Larry would pipe up and say " Look ! . . . KID ! Yah don't know nuttin' see ".
