This product has a tan color sediment and when shaken it disperses and becomes cloudy. (Still brushes on clear.) When settled out ,the supernatant (clear) part is amber colored. Is this sediment wax? I know that with shellac mixed from flakes you can pour off the supernatant and leave the sediment behind and then it is called “de-waxed”. I don’t know if the same applies to this product or if those solids are needed to build the finish. Thanks for the advice.

That is wax. You can decant the clear liquid from that if you want, but no guarantees as to how completely dewaxed that shellac will be. Krenov writes of doing that in his student days. For reliably dewaxed shellac Zinsser's Seal Coat also comes pre-mixed, or you can mix your own from flakes.
