Workbench Tool Storage Solutions
Learn how to outfit workbench drawers for smart, organized tool storageWhen I set out out to build my first serious cabinetmaker’s workbench, I knew I wanted to integrate tool storage into the design. I took a cue from Fine Woodworking contributor Lon Schleining and built two large drawer boxes that fit into the well beneath my benchtop, and outfitted each of them with three drawers. In this short video, I’ll take you through a guided tour of how I outfitted each of the drawers. From simple dividers that bring order to my humble collection of chisels—to sliding tool trays that lift out for convenience, and even custom handplane storage—these tips will help you keep your tools organized and safe.
Learn how to build this bench from start to finish in a Video Workshop series featuring Ed Pirnik. The Not-So-Big Workbench is sized for the smaller hobbyist’s workshop and doubles as a tool storage center with it’s dual banks of drawers. Built of rock-solid maple and accented with cherry drawer fronts and brass ring pulls, it’s sure to become an heirloom. |

Lots of useful ideas. I’m building a tool chest and most of these ideas are applicable to my project. Many thanks.
