Own a Lathe Christened by Richard Raffan
UPDATE – October 17, 2013, 3:00pm EST: Pending payment, Richard Raffan’s lathe has been sold.
All this week, Fine Woodworking is shooting a series of videos with celebrated turner Richard Raffan. When we began pre-production planning for all these videos, we were able to secure a new Vicmarc VL150 lathe for Richard to use on-camera. Woodworkers Emporium of Las Vegas, Nevada graciously provided us with the lathe but before we send it back to the desert, we’ve been given the opportunity to put the machine up for sale to readers at a discounted price. This is the exact lathe Richard used in the production of an upcoming DVD on Turning Toys, as well as a series of short videos on turning technique set to debut online in the coming months.
Own Richard’s Vicmarc Lathe
The Vicmarc VL150 retails for $2,295.00 however, owing to the fact that it’s slightly used, Woodworkers Emporium is offering it up to Fine Woodworking readers at a discount of just over 12%. That means, you can purchase the Vicmarc for $2,000.00 plus shipping. Of course, you can save on shipping if you’re able to pick up the lathe yourself at our editorial offices in Newtown, CT.
To make things more interesting, we’re going to have Richard sign the lathe before he departs for Australia at the conclusion of this week’s shoot.

The lathe will be available until Friday, October 25, 2013. Woodworkers Emporium will be handling the transaction as with any other piece of machinery they sell, but the lathe will be shipped from Fine Woodworking’s editorial office in Newtown, CT.
*NOTE: Fine Woodworking will receive no financial remuneration for the sale of this lathe. We simply thought it would be an exciting opportunity for a reader.
