Took a break from milk paint this week. Nothing but the natural beauty of wood on display in this little box. It’s similar to other boxes I’ve made, but I’ve tweeked the proporitions. It’s actually very close to one of the first boxes I made after starting at Fine Woodworking. This one isn’t as tall as that one. The box sides are English elm. I like the color, but otherwise I’m not fond of the wood. It’s a bit too weedy and rough. The lid has a plywood core that’s been banded with cocobolo and veneered with English brown oak. The lifts are cocobolo. You can read more about the box, and see some other pictures of it, here.
Now back to the shop to make some more boxes. I have 46 to go.
