Jointer and Planer Secrets by Hendrik Varju.
Passion for Wood, 2007.
$64.95 Canadian; 2 DVD set; 4 hrs, 38 mins.
Coming in at a little over 4 hrs, Jointer and Planer Secrets by Hendrik Varju, covers a lot of material. Starting with a discussion on safety, the DVD goes on to explain the difference between a jointer and a planer. And then after 12 more chapters, filmed mostly in real time, you’ll learn everything from milling lumber to glue-ups. In fact, the glue-up chapter is filmed without stopping the camera, so nothing is skipped or glossed over. The entire DVD set is not heavily edited so the details are included. Varju says he covers the what, the how and the why so you’ll understand and remember the processes.
