This piece of furniture took me around 1100 hours to make. Carving and marquetry added to a piece of furniture can really take you back in time. When designing this piece I really wanted to add carvings to this piece of furniture without making it to busy. By adding eagle wings & the lions face and violin scrolls. Alone with marquetry of roses. This is the most enjoyable piece of furniture I’ve made so far.

Absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations on a job well done!
Neat, over how long a period of time were the 1100 hours? muehly.
There are very, very few people in this country who posses the hand skills in both marquetry AND carving that Dennis does. Hopefully we can get the Griffin table into the final selection and get Dennis a well deserved hvlp sprayer.
good god man, you need more hobbies.
thats sick!!! your badass
You are woodworking magician and a true artist. You honor our craft.
Thank you, Bret
Hi Muehly,
I work on the Griffin Table off and on for two years.
Absolutely gorgeous piece of work. True art that is a joy to look at! I am VERY impressed with the whole thing.
Fabulous work, I am now going to take a long walk off a short pier . . .
This is really exquisite work. The detail and patience it must have taken to execute such a fine piece of art and make it all come together with the carving and marquetry is outstanding. You are a true master craftsman. This is a piece that belongs in a museum of fine art!
Dennis: Beautiful as always. great looking table.
Fantastic is the understatement Dennis!
Your talent is never ending..........
I always love to view your masterpieces and I dream of one day being able to come close to what you create.
Beautiful table!
This piece would flatten every other piece of furniture in the room. Last weekend I dined at a house that overlooked the bay and could use something like this in the livingroom. But they would have to --I think-- simplify the entire room, say, to black leather furniture, to let this piece take centre stage.
A fabulous piece of art, plus furniture. I viewed all of the entries before
seeing who created them, & just knew this one had to be yours.
This one is a winner in my estimation.

Great workmanship, just Beautiful what else can be said. except good luck and I hope you win.
I just signed up today and came across this contest. I've been a professnal sign maker/painter my whole life. When I saw your table, I couldn't believe the high level of detail and craftsmanship. Good Luck.
What an incredible piece of furniture!.I love the detailed design and the terrific carvings. Took real talent to make this table.
Fantastic. The more you look the more well conceived detail you find on this piece. A true work of art.
There are some very fine tables in this collection but I believe the Griffin table is in a class by itself.
Great work Dennis.
I have to say I was speechless when I first saw this table it is the work of a true artisan beautifully concieved & executed impeccable work Dennis I think it deserves to win
Best of luck

That is an amazing piece!
Awesome work. Where will this be used?
awsome
awsome
This is stunning. The questions, "What are you gonna use it for?" "What are you gonna put in it?" "Where are you gonna put it?" "What are you gonna do with it?", are assinine. An artist makes something simply to "be". STUNNING is what this piece be. So, next time some knuckle-dragging whackado asks, "Uhhh, what's it fer?", say, "It's for being stunning. Deal with it."
