Simple Taper Jig
This jig is designed to work with the Veritas bench clamps but other bench clamps with a 3/4″ spigot would probably work. Basically it is a piece of 3/4″ plywood with a bunch of 3/4″ holes drilled in it. The pictures pretty much tell the story.

I was just looking over tapering jig plans. I love this - simple and functional - my kind of jig. I'm thinking of using a design like this with a cross-cut sled. - Thanks!
Nice simple design. If tapering a large piece it would be good to add a stationary table on the other side of the blade to support the cutoff.
Should not be used without the guard on the table saw however.

How do you make repetitive cuts? I don't see any stops or guides so I don't have to eyeball each cut.
If you wanted to make repetitive cuts, you could screw a couple of scrap pieces right on to the jig to locate a side and one end.
Beyond tapering, it should work equally as well as a guide for ripping stock that does not have a straight edge to ride along the fence. In this regard, it's limited by its length, but a longer, similarly constructed jig would work for longer pieces.
Great idea! But those clamps are $70 each.
Hey Greg: Love the idea and I already have the LV clamps. I am curious though as to what you have fabricated at the bottom of the clamp just above the surface of the plywood. Looks like some sort of collar and I'm guessing it might have to do with keepint the clamp from scraping the top of the saw's table. Can you give us some further info pls?
G'day. Great idea Kiwigreg. I love the simplicity of it.
I noticed that the shaft tended to lean over when the clamp screw was tightened up, probably due to the ply being only 3/4" thick. I added the packer between the jig and the clamp to provide more support.
Nice jig, but hey, that's $150.00 worth of clamps on it!
Yea, but I had them anyway and use them all the time for other jigs, the drill press table and general bench clamping. Wouldn't be without them.
I have three of these on my wall, all made from oak and difficult to use. This is simple and nice.
A comment on the clamps. If the clamps are spendy try looking at garage sales. Half of my shop accessories came from them and a lot of it was new. Many folks spend a lot of money on this "hobby" before they realize it isn't about buying the best tools. They sell them cheap, too, because they don't want them hanging around the garage while they watch football.
