America’s northeast woods are thick with great furniture makers.
Anyone wanting evidence need only view the works on display in this year’s summer exhibition by the New Hampshire Furniture Masters. The exhibit, a month-long preview to the organization’s annual auction, features pieces in a wide range of styles by 14 highly accomplished cabinetmakers.
Titled Inspired Design, Extraordinary Craftsmanship, the exhibit opens this weekend and runs through Sept. 7 at Canterbury Shaker Village outside of Manchester, NH. The opening coincides with the village’s Traditional Arts weekend, which will feature opportunities to meet master furniture makers and see demonstrations of techniques in cabinetmaking and other crafts.
The auction takes place on Sept. 10 at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH.
