Doug Stowe has been making boxes for more than 30 years, and over that time he has perfected his techniques for designing and building them. In this episode of his video workshop on making boxes, Stowe shows how to make a small box with a sliding lid. The construction is simple. He uses finger joints in the corners, cut with a tablesaw jig. He also shares some tips on how to make a smooth-sliding top: the key is a test piece to dial in the fit. This project is ideal for showing off some spectacular grain in the top, making it the focal point.

Thank you for this great video series which i've watched several times. How do you secure the dividers to the box? Seems a bit flimsy to just fit them in without any support.
I'll just bet a the rest of us had a 3rd hand when necessary. :-)
This is, without doubt, the best video series on basic box making. I'm about to get some of his books.
