Cutting Dadoes with a Router
Watch how to cut stopped dadoes and through dadoes, making multiple passes with a router to sneak up on a tight fit every time.
FWW publisher Anatole Burkin shows how to make a simple, accurate fence to guide a router for cutting through dadoes and stopped dadoes. Because wood or plywood is almost never exactly the same thickness as a router bit, you have to finesse the cut to get a good fit. He shows how to do that, using a 1/2-in. bit and making multiple passes.

After he has taken an 1/2" cut it "sounds like" he is saying "measure over 3/8" for second pass". Wouldn't that make the dado 7/8"?
