How to Install a Bandsaw Fence
Asa Christiana explains how to set up a resaw bandsaw fence.
Q:
Based on Asa Christiana’s recommendations (“Bandsaw Fences,” FWW #230, p. 55), I bought the Grizzly resaw bandsaw fence. However, I am not clear on how to set the fence’s cursor because the fence can be set up three different ways. Also, should I put the fence on the right or left side of the blade?

A:
Most woodworkers use the fence on the left side of the blade, because it gives unlimited room out to the right for a large workpiece.
Set the cursor with the aluminum fence in the tall position. That’s how you’ll use it most often.
Start by setting up the blade and guides. Then square the table to the blade. Bring the fence lightly against the blade’s teeth. Finally, align the fence’s cursor with the “0” on the tape.
Attach the fence in the “tall” position. Slide it over to the blade, so that it just barely touches the teeth (left). Now align the cursor to the scale’s “0.” Simply loosen the screws and move the cursor, which has oversize holes for the screws, right or left. – FWW Staff
