In the 18th century, period furniture maker Lonnie Bird says, people needed places to store their valuables and important documents. That’s why his replica of a Pennsylvania secretary from that time period includes a gallery complete with numerous secret drawers and pockets. In this video, Bird shares the techniques he used to create these hidden compartments, including building spring locks and hiding drawers within drawers.
