Jewelry Box
The design for this jewelry box was inspired by a design by Ryan Shervill. The main body is constructed out of maple while the legs and frame for the top are constructed out of bubinga. The curved shapes of the top were solely cut with a table saw. The concave curve was cut using the method outlined in FWW #168 while the convex curve was cut using a method and calculation procedure I developed. The curved shapes of the legs were cut with a jig saw.

Wow, I really like the lines and wood color contrast that you've used. Very nice!
Do you have any rough dims for the box?
Thanks Scott. The box is 17" wide, 6 1/2" tall, and 9" deep.
Beautiful box. I am a novice. How are the legs joined to the sides? Do you have to worry about gluing across the grain, etc.??
Thanks,
Matt
Thanks Matt. The sides are connected to the legs with mortise and tenon joints. The tenons stop about an inch from the top and bottom of each side, which cuts down the effect of wood movement.
