Arts and Crafts built in large cabinet inspired by Greene and Greene styling.
This project is a large built in cabinet that I finished in my master bedroom.
Inspiration I found in the cabinetry work done in the Gamble house by the Greene brothers. I love Arts and Crafts with an Asian flair.
The materials used are quarter sawn white oak for rails and styles and for panels I used quarter sawn and flat sawn red oak for contrast.
For the square pins I used Walnut. The hardware is Lee Valley.
The design, execution, finishing and assembling took about 350 hours for the full cabinet.
After finishing this cabinet I continued with the same theme in the trimming the whole room around windows and doors.
This is my largest and complex project I ever built ( 8’x10’x2′) this room continues with a walk in closet fully finished from floor to ceiling that I will post in another set of pictures.
In a closing note I will say that this project with all work that included cabinetry and trim carpentry was my most challenging project I ever built and the experience gained from overcoming all the hardship is invaluable.
