Walnut Slab Table
I wanted to replace a coffee table in our family room that I made when I was in 10th grade. It was nice, but simple, dated and was made with a metal frame with a mahogany top. I saved the top since it is 1 1/8” thick. The new table is made from three knoted slabs of black walnut. The biggest slab became the top and the two smaller slabs became the legs, stretcher and drawer. It is doweled at all joints with pocket screws for additional support holding on the top. The finish is one coat of Bush Oil with five coats of satin, wipe on polyurethane, rubbed out between coats.
This was a Christmas present for my wife.
