Craftsman Shelf/Bookcase
This is a small Craftsman Shelf made from Red Oak that I designed and built for my mother. I came up with the design after hearing what architectural details she liked. and the space in her apt she wanted to fill. One other thing that is not visible in the photo is the shelves are adjustable. Using shelf pins their hight can change the only restriction being they cannot be removed.

I'll bet that took awhile. Looks great. I've always wanted to build the arts and crafts four sided book table, but haven't had the energy to start, since the joinery is tedious like your bookcase. kudos on a well done bookcase.

Thank you.
The joinery took a bit of time. Since I made most of the joints similar it was allot of batch cutting which went fast but the finishing was what chewed up most of the time. I figured it was much easier to finish it before assembly. I just had to find space in my little shop to hang each individual piece as each step of the finish dried. This piece has 67 separate pieces from what I remember and I could only hang about a third of that at a time. In the finish their was 1 coat of stain plus 3 coats of poly. so 12 batches in all each I let dry for at least 24 hrs. But it was well worth it! I did learn for my next project to leave some play in sliding joints to account for the build up of poly and stain.
