Great looking design. Do you have any photos on construction of the corner? Thanks in advance
Love the bed! Does the tightness of the corner joints change during changes in relative humidity? Do you require a centre support for the base?
Hi Brian. I too like your bed and the very nice workmanship and coincidentally just picked up the wood for a similar project seen at this link:

Thanks for sharing this inspired piece.
Sorry that I did not reply to these comments sooner. I had, frankly, forgotten that I had posted them here. I happened across them whilst renewing my FineWoodworking.com subscription.
Emerals: I would like to see photos when you finish. I like the headboard idea. Perhaps I will add one to my bed at some point.
roxy1234: I have not had any noticable issues with the legs binding up, but then again, I have not needed to dis-assemble it since I first set it up. I doo have a center post to support the 3/4" platform.
dverstra: I have a photo here:

I like the design, I'd be a bit worried about the sharp corners catching my shin as a walk about in the dark though.
Very nice. Any headboard pics yet?
I built one very similar. It did'nt have the protruding wedges and I used oak slats with a maple support from top to bottom. I too have been thinking about a head board. Good job on yours, I like the grain matching.

This bed is wonderful,... Could you please send me the sketchup file for it. ...:)
Could you please send me the sketch-up file as well?
Thanks
I actually joined this site just,,, so I could please ask for your schematics of this bed, as I love tatami beds, but also want to build one..!!! pleaseee!!!!
I've pretty much designed my bed frame ... very similar to yours but I'm still at a loss of how I can make the legs with those perfect slots. What are your suggestions? I'd love a little know how on how you built yours. Other then gluing together a bunch of small pieces with longer and shorter ones to make the slots I'm at a loss. I could glue the whole thing together and then use a band saw to cut the sides of the slots but then how would you make the bottom perfectly flat? I'm not that good with a chisel. Lol, thank's in advance!
