University of Michigan Museum of Art Tree Live
The University of Michigan is in the final stages of a $41.9 million expansion and restoration project. Spawning from the University of Michigan’s Tree Planting Initiative, over 80 woodturners from across the country were enlisted to turn 26 trees that were felled at groundbreaking into works of art. This unique recycling project turned over nine different tree species into astonishing works of art ranging from pens to tables. The finished pieces will be sold exclusively in the Museum shop when it reopens its doors in 2009.
