This old world dinning table and chairs, I made five years ago for a customer in 2004. The top’s marquetry has eight french acanthus leafs around the top. And a center acanthus flower in bloom in the center of the top. Around the circumference on the top edge, their is 32 carved acanthus leafs. The tapered cylinder drum base is hollow. It’s made out of solid American black walnut. The thickness was 8/4 thick when glued up. When carving the leaves around the base, I carved off approximately 3/4″ of a inch.
