Asian inspiration with Padauk, Ebony and slate
African Padauk brings an intense garnet color to this Arts and Crafts and Asian blend of styles. I wedged the through tenons with Ebony. Black slate is inset. Overall, I am attempting to blend an African theme in choice of mbao (lumber) with the Asian elements of post-beam construction, lightness, and balance in the arched lines. I finished the table with three coats of hand rubbed Danish oil.

Beautiful,
but I will only mention that almost all of the ebony species in use are vulnerable or endangered species.

Major Threat(s): Virtually all large trees of this species have been felled for the ebony wood, except perhaps in the most remote parts of its range.
Great work! The contrasting colors, contrasting materials, and contrasting lines make a beautiful and interesting balance. What an amazing piece of art! Well done!
