Small Box Contest
The boxes characteristic of my work have a frame and panel lid. The panel being made up of several strips of wood rounded on the top with the ends mounted in a groove on the panel ends. The ends are curved and glued to the frame but the inner strips are not glued, so they can move with the humidity. Overall effect is the appearance of tambour, and allows use of otherwise wasted small pieces. I like the curves of the lid which has a softening effect on the otherwise square box. The lid is Padauk. The sides are from some unknown wood a friend brought back from Nepal.
