Graduation ranma and shoji
These are actually two projects. Both were made as my graduation pieces from the tategu postgraduate course (21 March 2009) at the Toyama International College of Crafts and Art – a technical college in Toyama, Japan, focusing on traditional Japanese carpentry methods. The top ranma is a combination of the asa-no-ha and goma floral kumiko patterns. The timber types used are yellow cedar, Douglas fir, Queensland maple, and Bombay blackwood.
The ranma and shoji at the bottom contain a diamond asa-no-ha pattern (ranma), and the “kozu” pattern on a square asa-no-ha pattern base. These pieces are entirely yellow cedar.

Thank you for sharing your project very nice and tedious work I am sure.
Thanks for your comments. I enjoy making them so the work is not really that tedious, but certainly the small pieces start to blend into each other after a while.
those are spectacular! I congratulate you. Thank-you for sharing.
Holy cow! Amazing! I am contemplating building a Shoji Screen, but not so detailed. Looking for information. If you have any, it would be great and appreciated.
