This project was to try my hand at some simple but elegant lines. I used Walnut for the top and the grain in the top all points to the center of the box giving what I think a unique flair to a box top. I used maple for the sides and “wrapped the grain” around the box. I also inlayed some ebony into the top of the maple which isn’t even noticed until the top is removed and the box strikes the opener one last time.
