This box was made from a crotch out of a storm damaged willow tree in my yard. When I started to cut it up I noticed some spalting and decided to explore it and this is the result. Inside the box are 7 smaller trays that show the spalted pattern. The top was made from ambrosia maple and the handle from walnut. The finish is a combination of Danish oil and wipe on poly. The trays were contured on the sides so each one has a fingerhold and can be picked up in easily without disturbing others in the layer. I love this box but can’t say I designed it. I just opened it up so it could be seen.
