This wall-mounted jewelry chest has NO BOX. There is a central spine supporting four floors of 32 hinged trays, of heights 2″ to 1″, decreasing at 1/16″ intervals. There are two 29″ long 1/4″ diameter axles that parallel the central spine and support each tray via a pair of ballbearings.

Allan, all I can say is....very, very cool. Excellant design and beautiful execution. Great job. Mike
I have 3 pieces here as well but I must say this is absolutely beautiful. My hats off to you. Fantastic job.
You did a wonderful job here Allan creating this piece. I've stopped by and looked at her a few times ..... You get a thumbs-up from me.
Your design work here is outstanding ...... the 'drawer' front pulls integrated into the piece are very creative.
I as well build boxes .... and can imagine the hours amongst the sawdust to bring this piece to life.
I wish you would tell us what timber you used and how you finished her ..... can't tell from here.
Very well done I say
Best

My thanks to KRASSEL, Sandtazam, and davekipfer for you encouraging comments. The wood is bulletwood which is described in the technical report: http://www2.fpl.fs.fed.us/Techsheets/Chudnoff/TropAmerican/pdf_files/manilk1new.pdf.
I gave the jewelry case an oil finish, with a little Cabernet stain incorporated into the mix. I tried to be a bit sculptural with the design, as my main therapy these days is stone sculpture (which you will find on my website http://www.sieradskistudios.com). I wouldn't have gone with the design save for the fact that a friend gifted my 80 5/8"x1/4" ball-bearings.
