2008 was a rough year for my wife. In March her father suffered a major heart attack and underwent open heart surgery. As the eldest in the family, she took the brunt of the impact. When this Valentines Day rolled around I knew I needed to pull out all the stops and come up with a Valentine ‘card’ to end all cards. I was pretty sure she would be tickled with this box as she is an artist and appreciates a somewhat unconventional approach to Valentines Day. I was right. She said she thought it was the best Valentines Day Card she had ever had.
And by the way – her father has recovered – although it was touch and go after a subsequent bout with pneumonia, blood infection and skin cancer. I gotta say I’m glad he’s a tough old bird. . .
The piece was stained with two colors of analine dye then tung oiled then waxed and polished.

Love the heart. I sure am glad with the realism that you have that it was not a gall bladder attack.
Outstanding! I've loved the idea of the human heart for Valentine's Day for years, but never would have thought of this. The realism is great. Nice, nice job. Glad to hear dad is doing well, too.
