Crystal Bridges walnut bench
Crystal Bridges is a new museum of American art being built in Bentonville, Arkansas, and the wood for this project came from the site during ground preparation. The previous owner of the site was Neil Compton, former president of the Ozark Society and the man considered the “father” of the Buffalo National River, the only river in the US designated as a National park. The meander through the bench and the natural river stones embedded in the top are symbolic of his contributions to preservation of our natural environment and the bench is a tribute to our clear, free-flowing rivers and streams.

Very nice indeed, Doug. The design is great, utilizing straight lines, curves, the "split" top, and sapwood. How are the stones secured?
Sockets, accurately reflecting the shape of the stones are carved into the wood,, then the stones are glued in place with system 3 epoxy. I wrote about this technique in Fine Woodworking, number 187 in an article called Fresh Take on Table Tops.
