2900 lb free standing stairs
this is more a peice of furniture then it is stairs,it took 3 months to build out of paralam beams, the stringers are6″x16″x16 feet /there are13 treads at4″x14″x52″long. the constrution is mortise and tennon reinforced with 16″hardened steel lags. the entire unit is hanging on a large french cleat which is also tennoned into the stringers. I had to build 4 temp walls to install. all was grain filled 6 times sanded up to 220 and had 8 brush coats of deftphane semi gloss floor finish before assemblly, followed by 8 hand rubbed coats once it was up . last there is a single peice of glass at top and down stairs(no pic) .oh those are lad lights I inset between each step.

GEide Thank you so much for your compliment ,yes I do have other pics of this and other house projects maybe I will do just that .the funny thing about this project is that I don't like substates at all ,so this one was a challenge for me. but the carpenters who called me in for this job where going to just bolt steel plates under the treads.so I gave the client this option and he loved it ,but I could not talk him into using the 100year old reclaimed timbers I have.all the same I'm happy with it to .Thanks again
