Heirloom Bassinet
Here is a Bassinet I designed and built for my daughter. I took inspiration from Jim Schmidt’s cradle featured in the October 2008 FW readers gallery. It is constructed of Mississippi Swamp Ash and Bubinga. The scroll work was done with a scroll saw and a Foredom tool. The piece stands 46″ high, 39″ long and 18″ wide. The swing pivot is a 14mm waxed Ash dowel. I used a brass pin as a removable safety stop. I sanded to 450 and finished with Tung Oil.
