This Shaker design confused me at first because it looked more Scandavian than Shaker. But the Shaker’s were independent thinkers, so I decided it should be no surprise for them to do something unexpected. In making this one, I had trouble deciding on the height, spread and proportions of the legs. I found several examples, each a little different. I finally just did what felt good to me. Next time I’ll probably make the legs a little more spidery. They taper in thickness, getting narrower toward the floor end. First coat of finish was Minwax Antique Oil Finish, followed by several coats of tung oil/linseed oil/varnish handrubbed with 0000 steel wool.
