“Lion” locomotive model
In December 1992 , Fine Woodworking included an article by Doug Kenney on making scale model railway locomotives in hardwood. After thinking about this for years, I decided on modelling the Lion which is one of the oldest railway locomotives, built in England in 1837, and still in working order. With a set of model engineering plans, supplemented by about 100 photos of the Lion from the internet, I draw plans for the model in AutoCAD. Most of the parts were made by making prints from the plans, gluing them to the wood and cutting out with a scroll saw. I still have the tender to make, which will be next winter’s project.
