Short story … I was teaching at the University of Wisconsin, NROTC and was asked to act as liaison between the state historical society and the USS WISCONSIN, then in overhaul. The history society created taveling dsiplays of USS WISCONSIN memorabilia and original teak from the topside decks was tossed out! Naturally, I grabbed it. These table tops are teak from the original decks of the WWII battleship USS WISCONSIN. While the table designs are simple, it’s the teak and the notion that brave Sailors roamed over these planks that gets all the glory!
