I made this arbor and gate last fall. The arbor is made from old fir beams that came from a demo’d bowling alley (note the old bolt holes near the tops of the uprights).
One of the beams I bought still had the old iron bolts in it, so I carefully removed them and reused them to attach the horizontal members.
The gate is made from reclaimed T&G cedar roof decking that came out of an old gas station that was torn down. I designed it myself, adding the glass balls and copper pipes. After these pictures were taken, I added a bronze latch and treated all the wood with a natural preservative that turns it an even light grey.

Good Job.
What holds the balls on?
Thanks. The balls are essentially held in place by tension. The hole in the copper pipe allows the balls to sit slightly "into" them, thereby keeping them in place. I noticed that kids tend to like to spin them, so this works out pretty good.
Do you have a set of plans or a parts list for the Arbor. It looks great!
