This kitchen island is made almost entirely from reclaimed lumber. Wormy chestnut, salvaged from barn sheathing, makes up the body of the island. The lower shelf is made from unconditioned white pine which served as rails for a horse stall for over 100 years. Fresh poplar is used for the drawers.

Nice work. It looks like it could stand up to Jack Lambert too.
Yessir! ..and the countertop is like him--GRANITE. Thanks Go Steelers Ron Baird
What finish did you use on the wormy chestnut? I've got some that will eventually end up as end tables and I would love for it to look as nice as your island.
I used two coats of a 1.5 pound cut of dewaxed blond shellac and three coats of watco's oil.
