I built this bench from two planks of reclaimed, “sinker” cypress I found in the way, way back of a lumber mill in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. As far as I can tell, the tree they came from was well over three hundred years old, and must have sat at the bottom of a river for at least another hundred years. The wood itself was a joy to work, and actually shimmers when the light hits it just right.
The seat itself was made from one resawn and coopered plank section. The supports are bent laminations.
Dimensions: 44″L x 17″H x 20″W Materials: Sinker Cypress Finish: Unfinished

That is a beautiful bench, I'm not so sure I would let that one go outside.....
I agree. This is a beautiful piece of wood, a really stunning design, and a terrific execution and result. Great work.
graceful
Attractive design and very well executed. I especially like the opposing curves when viewed from the ends. The split apron is also a nice detail that gives the bench a light feel. Good job.
