The client wished for a magnificent bed that would reflect his heritage, and gave me free reign to design. I thought, let’s make it as fantastic as possible, and put patterns and carvings everywhere. It is queen-size with a 7′ tall headboard (their room is open two-storey vaulted ceiling). It is all hand carved out of reclaimed materials, and there are many details which the photos just don’t show. Most of it was built int their tiny shack of a garage with a table saw, jig saw, router, some chisels, and sheer determination. The total project took 400 hours. They loved it.

WOW!!! 400 hours!! This is incredible. Being a fan of the viking era & an amature woodcarver myself, I can imagine the FUN you must have had creating this project. I love the detailing you put into this. Absolutely beautiful!!! Great job. Thanks for sharing!!

It would be appreciated in the Norwegian community I live in, too. Your work is so authentic it feels like you dredged it up from the bottom of a fjord.
