grandfather clock
This is a picture of my second clock made from solid red oak. It has 3 coatings of dark stain and 5 coatings of hand rubbed varnish. I modified the finial and columns from the original plans. It stands 84″ high (2130 mm).

Looks really nice Dave. I just finished my first one a couple weeks ago. It's not as fancy as yours but I plan on making my next one more elaborate. Did you turn the spindels yourself?

thanks, yes, i turned the spindels and columns on my lathe and then made a jig to hold them so that i could cut them exactly in half. That took a bit of fooling around to ensure they were cut exactly right, i didn't want to re-make them.
