Coffee Table
It was a thrill to see in the April 2009 Fine Woodworking the work of Allan Breed copying the Newport tea table. I once tried something similar (albeit far less complex) which was inspired by images from m,y youth. My grandmother used to have small starched table cloths on the dining table and I wanted to recreate this. The chanlange was to make the frills rise above the surface of the table in order to look authentic. For this purpose I had to glue up a 70mm top and then recess the inside, something similar to what Allan Breed did.
