Small Paduak Chest of Drawers
This was a hardest project i have completed to date. A small chest of Paduak. Paduak is very beautiful, smells incredible when worked, but is hellishly dusty and dry (or maybe that was just the pieces that i had!. It’s also prone to chipping, without a doubt the driest lumber i have had in the shop. The black accents are ebony, the browner wood is Jatoba which is great but don’t ever use it for drawer sides as they will last forever but also are un-planeable, other wood is poplar for drawer sides, plywood for drawer bottoms and draw holders. The handles are great (very renee macintosh) and are from Lee Valley Tools. The project was many hours of work, but mainly learning as this was my first ever real wood project and first ever chest of drawers. I particularly like the back, i did something different which i liked a lot.

I have only been learning on my own from scratch for 2 years, so if you are a newbie and you think you can’t learn…i will tell you that reading lots and thinking makes it so you can…
