Handplane Storage Case
As part of a Hand Joinery class at Palomar College, we were required to build a box incorporating dovetails, frame and panel and a lid. My Lie Nielsen planes didn’t have their own home so a case was in order and this was the result. Woods used were quarter-sawn hard maple and black walnut from a tree near our house. Finish was wipe-on polyurethane and paste wax.

I like it but cannot help thinking it must be a bit heavy. Very, very nice work. Well done.
I have a set of planes with no home. This is what I need to do for mine. Thank you for sharing your terrific work.
My first thought upon seeing this was "Wow...this would be a perfect project for Dave Thomsen's Hand Tool Joinery class at Palomar." Then I read your caption...lol. I'm taking the class for the second time right now. Its a very beautiful piece. I like the combination of the half-blind and through dovetails and I love the work on the handle! It's got something cool to look at from every angle.
