Secret Door Bookcase
Built-in bookcase of my own design, though I borrowed the column details from a Family Handyman magazine free-standing bookcase. 1/4″ wallboard on the door section keeps all three sections looking identical. No fancy hardware, just four large tee hinges and polyurethane construction adhesive. Roller catches keep it closed.

It's quite a bookcase! Very impressive.
There occurs to me, however, a question.
Wouldn't the secret door be more secret if you didn't post pictures of it on the internet? :)
Beautiful job!
That must be a heck of a hinge. With a load of books the torque would be huge! Any problems with sagging or failures?
Awesome! I see the heavy books are in the other 2 cases and the lightweight stuff is on the door.
That's awesome! As a kid, I always daydreamed of having a house with secret doors and passageways. I may have to add something like this to my house now to live out those fantasies. Thanks for sharing. Aaron
This is what I will do for a door to my wood shop ;)
