Skin on Frame Kayak
This kayak was built using the traditional Greenland Inuit form of a wooden frame with bent ribs. The long stringers are Alaskan yellow cedar, the ribs are white oak, and the stems are pine. The frame is lashed with nylon “artificial sinew” and pegged with birch dowels. The skin is polyester coated with a two-part polyurethane. Deck lines are leather with maple sliders.
