Adjustable Resaw Fence
One problem I’ve noticed with manufactured resaw fences is that they are not tall enough. Also, I’ve seen other designs of fences that are as tall as the saw will cut. However, the problem that I perceive with them is that the upper blade guides need to be above the fence.
This fence design allows the guides to be set just above the workpiece, which may help by reducing cupping and waving that happens when the distance between guides is too long for the piece being resawn.
While this fence is designed to be attached to the existing band saw fence, I think it might be better to attach it to it’s own base, perhaps using MagSwitches to attach the base to the saw table. The existing fence allows more lateral play than I thought it might.
I made the fence from some cherry remnants and finished it with BLO and wax. The standard has a 1/8″ deep groove running the length. The lower post is glued into the groove. The adjustable post fits snugly in the groove and attaches with a bolt through a slot running in the groove. The bolt is a galvanized cap screw with the head cut off – it is epoxied into the post. A washer and wing nut complete the post attachment. The standard is attached to the fence with a bolt that screws into a brass insert epoxied into the standard.

I used a 1/4" screw/stud instead of the bolt and just twisted it into a 1/4" hole in the back of the guide block.
