Turning Terminalia Catappa
Theese are some bowls turned out of a beautiful and yellowish coloured wood of a tree that we call “Amendoeira”. This is a very common tree that grows beautifully on all the brazilian coast. I fortunately found three logs of a tree that was recently cut, and had the opportunity to discover how good it is to be turned, mainly when it´s green. I´m affraid that the photos do not pay the real value that wood has. I´m a seven month amateur turner and woodworker.

Nice work! I love the edge carving in the 2nd photo. What did you use? (i.e., carved by hand, or Dremel tool, etc.)
Thanks for sharing!
Hi applewax,
Thanks for your kind comment.
In the 2nd photo, I carved the bowl by hand, using a V shaped chisel and applied a pyrography burning with a Dremel pyrographer (butane). To center the carvings to the radius of the bowl I used a homemade centerfinder. If you want more details, I´ll very glad to describe.
