I made a few like these for Christmas presents once. This look almost identical to one I made and a great way to use up some scraps. (I'm a little cheap.) Kind of a fun project, not complicated, but I learned some gluing and finishing tricks.
I recall clamping so as to keep it all flat was a bit challenging with the thin lumber.
I like this Idea, How thick are they?

I like that very much. What are the dimensions, thickness, etc., and where do you get the clipboard hardware?
Nice project. I was wanting to do the same, but couldn't find the clip hardware. Where did you find your's?
I like the look of the clipboard. If the thin material is weak and/or warping, it should be possible to fashion "bread-board-ends" on top and bottom, to strengthen the flat board against twists and bends common with the use of a clipboard.
Lee Valley has excellent clipboard hardware which comes with a calculator that can be attached to the clip surface, also a holder for pen or pencil. Product number 88K78.17. I made a several last year-good gift item.
Exquisite! I may have to adapt this technique to make a personalized map board for use in the field.
