“Shapes” Entry Table
This table is made of Black walnut, Mahogany, Quilted Maple, & Ebony. I have no idea where exactly the inspiration came from, all I know is I was at my hardwood suppliers and he pulled this amazing piece of walnut out of a new bundle of 5/4 and when he showed it to me I had to have it! So he told me to build a entry table out of it, then one day I just drew this in my sketch pad. This is a sponsored studio piece in which the material was paid for by Jim Hamer at Hardwood Lumber & Millwork in Lakeland, Florida.

I like this piece a lot. From the side it has great balance and form. It's interesting, sculptural, and flows nicely. A very good design. I have to say the top suffers a bit from the board match - the grain is wonderfully heavy and it just doesn't flow like the rest of the piece. The glue line is just too obvious. The base looks the same way. Hope you don't mind the crit - perhaps others think differently.
This is way cool! A great design and great execution. Thanks for sharing the photos.
