These toys are all made from extra piano parts from our piano shop . Sometimes the piano can’t be saved so I use legs and panels to make toys. The street sweeper is mostly from a large leg, turned upside down and the ‘brush’ was a spindle below that. The little wheel in the back came from legs from a different piano which had black walnut legs. The piano moving truck and the cement truck have lots of miles on them and are getting a little beat. No one gets to play with the street sweeper since it’s kind of heavy. The train’s cow catcher and wheel hubs are made from sliced piano legs. Most of the piano parts are well aged woods, usually walnut, mahogany and poplar. Once in a while rosewood. The little milk truck has extra hardware. Pianos have lots of high quality brass hardware which we used to make pivoting parts etc. I had made some biplanes but the children threw them to see how they would glide. Not well it turns out.
